CPMD team goes to Region IV- A for Farmers Training on Bugtok Identification and Management Strategies and other Major Diseases of Banana | May 20, 2024.
Farmers received training on bugtok identification, management techniques, and other significant banana diseases at the Municipality of Mataas na Kahoy, Batangas. This mission was a target activity aimed at mitigating and controlling such outbreaks, particularly in our banana industry. The Bureau of Plant Industry-Crop Pest Management Division (CPMD), together with the National Seed Quality Control Services Division (NSQCS),National Plant Quarantine Services Division (NPQSD), Plant Product Safety Services Division (PPSSD), Regional Crop Protection Center (RCPC), and from the University of the Philippines Los BaƱos (IPB|UPLB) led by Dr. Fe Dela Cueva, Director of the Institute of Plant Breeding, works on hand and plays a vital role in combating insect pests and diseases. Dr. Dela Cueva generously shared her knowledge and expertise about bugtok disease and works directly with farmers to tackle banana diseases and insect pests. This effort continues to support the mission of increasing the production of affordable and nutritious food, as directed by esteemed DA Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr.
