Mr. Mar J. de Guzman and Ms. Glaiza Marie L. Duron of the Bureau of Plant Industry – Crop Pest Management Division (BPI-CPMD), served as resource speakers during the โSpecialized Capability Enhancement Training on Integrated Upland Conservation Guided Farmโ, as part of the Manila Bay Rehabilitation Project (MBRP), that was recently organized and conducted by the Soil Conservation and Management Division (SCMD) of the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM) last May 21 and 23, 2024 in Dinalupihan, and Abucay, Bataan, respectively.
Mr. de Guzman and Ms. Duron imparted their knowledge on Pests and Diseases, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to the farmer-cooperators and members of the beneficiary Association. For the past years, BPI has been a partner in the capacity-building activities in the aforementioned project by DA-BSWM.
Moreover, the training aimed to raise awareness among farmers about the environmental impact of agricultural practices on pollution loading in Manila Bay, particularly from upland farming communities. It also served as a venue to introduce conservation technologies to reduce pollution loading by showcasing site-specific Sustainable Land Management (SLM) practices in the technology demonstration areas.
The event was participated by the DA – Regional Field Office 3, Provincial Agriculture Office of Bataan, Municipal Agriculture Offices of Dinalupihan and Abucay, as well as the respective Farmers Association.
