The Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI), spearheaded by the Crop Pest Management Division (BPI-CPMD), in collaboration with the Regional Field Office IV-A (RFO IV-A) and the University of the Philippines Los Baรฑosโ€”Institute of Weed Science, Entomology, and Plant Pathology (UPLB-IWEP), successfully conducted the second and third batches of training on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Integrated Pest Management and Insecticide Resistance Management (IPM-IRM) on Mango from October 1-3, 2024. This initiative is part of the ongoing Mango Rehabilitation Project, aimed at enhancing sustainable farming practices and improving mango production across the regions.

The training sessions were well-attended, with 60 mango farmers, including owners and contractors from Magigiting na Magsasakang Batangueรฑo Inc. and Rizal Mango Stakeholder Association, participating actively. Each beneficiary received training kits and information, education, and communication (IEC) materials to support their ongoing learning and implementation of the practices discussed.

These sessions provided valuable insights and practical skills, equipping local farmers with the knowledge necessary to enhance yields and effectively manage pests. This collaboration underscores the commitment to promoting environmentally responsible agriculture and supporting local communities’ agricultural endeavors. Through these initiatives, the BPI, RFO IV-A, and UPLB-IWEP are fostering sustainable practices that will benefit farmers and contribute to the overall health of the mango industry.
