Showcasing creativity in science, Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI)-Crop Pest Management Division (CPMD) technical staff Melvin C. Banagbanag won the logo-making contest of 36th Southern Tagalog Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research, Development, and Extension Consortium (STAARRDEC) celebration held last May 15, 2024, at the Cavite State University.
“Ang idea at dahilan [sa pagbuo ng logo] ay para mas maipakita ang mandato o ginagawa ng STAARRDEC. Ang values at brandmark (We innovate, We technovate, We transform) na binigay na basehan ay nakatulong para maiugnay at mas mailarawan ang nilalaman ng logo,” Mr. Banagbanag said.
BPI-Crop Research Production Support Division Officer-in-Charge Christopher Cruz and BPI-Assistant Director’s Office for Research, Development, and Production Support Services Technical Assistant Nhyll Angelo Acuña received the award on behalf of Mr. Banagbanag.
The logo embodies the mandate of the Consortium to spearhead the region’s research, development, and extension for the advancement of people’s way of life. The elements in the logo, such as plant, gear, and golden rays, have their own corresponding meanings that light up the fruition of STAARRDEC’s mandate.
STAARRDEC Research and Development Agenda and Program was also launched that day. Staff from BPI also attended the Joint 15th Executive Board and 95th Regional Research and Development Coordinating Council Meeting the day before.
The BPI is one of the consortium’s member institutions.
