The Department of Agriculture, through the Assistant Secretary for Policy and Regulations and the DA-Regional Field Office VII, sponsored a 3-day National Mid-Year Assessment and Workshop on the Harmonization of Programs, Activities, and Projects (PAPs) of the DA-Regional Regulatory Divisions at the Diamond Suites and Residences in Cebu City from July 23 to 26, 2024. The participants included chiefs and personnel from the Regional Regulatory Divisions, representatives from other regulatory agencies such as BAFE, BAFS, BAI, BPI, BSWM, as well as the Planning and Monitoring Service (PMS), Financial Management Services (FMS), and Field Operations Service (FOS).
The primary aim of the activity was to evaluate the performance of the Regional Regulatory Divisions in implementing various PAPs under the Agriculture and Fishery Regulatory Support Program (AFRSP). This also served as a platform for the Regional Regulatory Divisions to present their accomplishments vis-à-vis their committed targets, and formulate the relevant recalibrated strategies to ensure efficient and effective program implementation towards the conclusion of FY 2024.
Ms. Merabil L. Corpuz, a technical staff from the BPI-Crop Pest Management Division (BPI-CPMD), was invited to present on the functions of BPI-CPMD and its involvement with the DA-Regional Regulatory Division wherein presentation focused on the digitalization of pest and disease surveillance and monitoring. One key agreement from the workshop was to review Department Order No. 09, Series of 2020, to harmonize and clearly delineate the roles between DA-RCPC and the Regulatory Divisions, as well as to cascade the mobile application/prototype and information system to the involved agencies.
