BPI-CPMD conducts Farmers’ Training on Pheromone Lure Trapping and Management Strategies for Major Pests and Diseases

SAN MANUEL, TARLAC | In anticipation of the onion season, the Bureau of Plant Industry-Crop Pest Management Division (BPI-CPMD) conducted a farmer’s training focusing on pheromone lure trapping and management strategies for major pests and diseases on August 22, 2024, at the Municipality of San Manuel, Tarlac. The training was attended by fifty (50) individual onion growers and members of farmers’ associations from San Manuel, along with representatives from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist of Tarlac and the Municipal Agriculture Office of San Manuel. Participants received technical lectures from speakers of the BPI-CPMD and the Regional Crop Protection Center III. They also received IEC materials, pheromone lures, and biopesticides, to aid in the early detection and management of onion armyworms during the first cropping season of onions this 4th quarter of the year.
