On July 29, 2024, the Regional Crop Protection Bicol Region conducted a training session on laboratory sample-handling protocols for pests and diseases in crops. The event was held at the ILD Conference Room. The training was officially opened by OIC ILD Chief Mr. Anacleto B. Esplana, and Mr. Lorenzo L. Alvina, OIC Regional Technical Division for Research and Regulations, welcomed the participants.
The training included lectures on plant pests and diseases affecting various important crops in the Philippines. It was attended by administrative and technical staff from the Regional Crop Protection Center (RCPC) and the Integrated Laboratory Division (ILD). The sessions emphasized the importance of proper sampling and handling of specimens to enhance preservation techniques. As a result, the training significantly improved the participants’ understanding of plant pest management strategies.
