The Bureau of Plant Industry-Crop Pest Management Division (BPI-CPMD), in collaboration with the DA-High Value Crops Development Program III (DA-HVCDP III) and DA-Regional Crop Protection Center III, conducted a field monitoring and validation of mango Cecid fly infestation and other major pests in the province of Bataan and Zambales. The team visited selected farms to assess and validate pests and diseases affecting mangoes. The observed pests include anthracnose, sooty molds, kurikong on leaves, scale insects, and mango hoppers. With the exception of the Cecid fly, growers believe these pests are manageable. Moreover, pruning, fertilizer application, weeding, fruit bagging, placing insect traps, spraying pesticides, and inducing mango trees twice a year are all common management practices among producers in this province.
