The Bureau of Plant Industryโ€”Crop Pest Management Division (BPI-CPMD) held the culminating activity of its week-long โ€œTraining on the Mass Production and Utilization of Biological Control Agents (BCAs) for the Management of Fall Armyworm (FAW)โ€ on October 10, 2024.

During the brief closing ceremony, the six (6) Timor-Leste participants shared their thoughts and impressions about their experiences during the training, followed by the awarding of certificates to all participants, resource speakers, facilitators, and organizers. CPMD Biocon and IPM Section Chief, Ms. Russ-Uzi Ebora, formally concluded the activity.

Following the closing program, the Timorese delegates, along with involved CPMD and Food and Agriculture Organization-Philippines (FAO-Philippines) staff, traveled to Sto. Domingo, Nueva Ecija, for a field day.

On October 11, 2024, the participants and facilitators paid a courtesy call to the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist of Sto. Domingo prior to the field visit. The field day provided an opportunity for the foreign participants to firsthand witness the effects of the BCAs, such as entomopathogenic fungi, Metarhizium, and Beaveria bassiana, as well as parasitoids, as evidenced through the presence of mummified larvae and parasitized egg masses of fall armyworm and corn borer.
