The BPI-CPMD is again delighted to welcome another opportunity from an aspiring company interested in investing in the commercialization of Biological Control Agents (BCAs).
Mr. Julius H. Barcelona, the COO of Harbest Agribusiness Corporation, together with Mr. Jos Van Meggelen, the Sector Coordinator Horticulture at PUM, Netherlands Senior Experts, visits the Biological Control Agent Laboratories of the BPI-CPMD. During the courtesy meeting, which was accommodated by Doc. Peter M. Magdaraog, Ms. Precerpina B. Luzaran, and the BioCon Section staff, the guests discussed their agenda and expressed their interest in venturing the different potential BCAs for commercialization. Mr. Barcelona and Mr. Meggelen were then given a tour of each BCA’s laboratory. Ms. Luzaran imparted knowledge on the mass production and the economic significance of each BCA that the BPI-CPMD is currently rearing and producing.
This kind of collaboration with the private company will give a brighter economic importance of potential BCAs, promoting an organic yet sustainable way of preventing pest outbreaks by reducing the pest population without harming the ecosystem.
