The Bureau of Plant Industry-Crop Pest Management Division (CPMD) conducted field monitoring and validation of onion armyworm infestation in Region III last January 9-12, 2023.The BPI team together with the Regional Crop Protection Center (RCPC) - III and staff from the Municipal Agriculture`s Office revisited the municipalities of Laur, Quezon, Nueva Ecija and Moncada, Tarlac.

The Bureau of Plant Industry-Crop Pest Management Division (CPMD) conducted field monitoring and validation of onion armyworm infestation in Region III last January 9-12, 2024.The BPI-CPMD, together with technical staff from the Plant Quarantine Region I and from DA-Regional Crop Protection Center I - visited the Municipal Agriculture’s Office of Bayambang, Bautista and Alcala, Pangasinan.

The Bureau of Plant Industry-Crop Pest Management Division (CPMD) together with the Regional Crop ProtectionCenter (RCPC)- III and staff from the Municipal Agriculture`s Office conducted a field monitoring and validation of onion armyworm and installation of pheromone traps in three (3) municipalities namely: Quezon and Laur, Nueva Ecija, and Moncada, Tarlac.

New Licensed Agriculturist for passing the November 20-22,2023 AGRICULTURIST LICENSURE EXAMINATION.







Bureau of Plant Industry-Crop Pest Management Division technical staff serve as resource speakers for the Basic Training Course on OPV Corn Seed Production and Certification for Seed Growers, which was conducted last November 28 December 1, 2023,  at the Golden Prince Hotel and Suites in Cebu City, Region 7.

The BPI-CPMD joined the five-day Information Caravan of the Department of Agriculture- National Urban and Peri-Urban Program (NUPAP) together with other divisions of Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) on November 20–24, 2023, with the theme: Agrikultura sa Kalunsuran para sa Masaganang Kinabukasan! The objective of the program is to strengthen and convey knowledge and technology regarding urban farming.

PRIME

Pest Risk Identification and Management (PRIME) is a four-year project among the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), and the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) that aims to understand risk factors for pest outbreaks and identify appropriate management strategies and tactics to reduce crop losses. Five pests, which caused major crop losses in the Philippines, will be studied: blast (leaf and neck blast), bacterial leaf blight (BLB), rice tungro disease/ green leafhopper (GLH), brown planthopper (BPH) and rats.
