The Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) in collaboration with the Philippines Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) and the High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) hosted a webinar series on the Pestalotiopsis Leaf Fall Disease (PLFD) of Rubber streamed live on the BPI-CPMD`s Official Facebook Page and via Microsoft Teams last November 21, 2023.

A total of 189 attendees (145 via Facebook Live and 44 via Microsoft Teams), including representatives from several State Universities and Colleges, Bureaus, farmers/associations, researchers, government agencies, and other stakeholders.The success of the webinar was a result of the coordinated efforts of the BPI, PRRI, USM, HVCDP, and other notable resource speakers.

PRIME

Pest Risk Identification and Management (PRIME) is a four-year project among the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), and the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) that aims to understand risk factors for pest outbreaks and identify appropriate management strategies and tactics to reduce crop losses. Five pests, which caused major crop losses in the Philippines, will be studied: blast (leaf and neck blast), bacterial leaf blight (BLB), rice tungro disease/ green leafhopper (GLH), brown planthopper (BPH) and rats.
