The Bureau of Plant Industry-Crop Pest Management Division technical staff, Mr. Jairus J. Abellar and Ms. Rezie Mae C. Catamora recently attended a training entitled “Enhancing Capacity for Diagnosis and Management of Vegetable Diseases" at the University of the Philippines Los Baños, Laguna, on April 25, 2024.The training aims to develop a decision-support system to track vegetable diseases in the Philippines. This important training enhances the capacity for accurate diagnosis and effective management of vegetable diseases using innovative diagnostic tools, such as molecular-based methods, that can significantly enhance the accuracy and speed of disease identification.In addition, participants are allowed to have hands-on training on the Veggiemon Platform and an actual demonstration of RT-PCR in detecting plant viruses
