The Department of Agriculture's highly esteemed USEC Cheryl Marie Natividad-Caballero of HVCDP gave a brief overview of the project's history and objectives. Dr. Celia Medina joined this project as well, lending her extensive expertise on the Cecid Fly to support the initiative's conduct. FPA representatives led by Maribel M. Querijero identified and addressed several questions about the deployment of pesticidal products.Pest Risk Identification and Management (PRIME) is a four-year project among the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), and the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) that aims to understand risk factors for pest outbreaks and identify appropriate management strategies and tactics to reduce crop losses. Five pests, which caused major crop losses in the Philippines, will be studied: blast (leaf and neck blast), bacterial leaf blight (BLB), rice tungro disease/ green leafhopper (GLH), brown planthopper (BPH) and rats.
