Together with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) being led by Ms. Liberty P. Almazan, Ms. Carmencita C. Bernal, Ms Mary Rose L. San Valentin, and Mr. Abel Callejo, and BPI-CPMD representatives led by Mr. Mar de Guzman, Mr. Rogelio Magbitang, Jr., Mr. Jomar Mosende, and Ms. Apel Jae Clemente, the Plant Health Initiative-Climate Smar Pest Management (PHI-CSPM) project conducted a three-week survey from February 20 - March 8, 2024, on rice production practices and their management strategies.

Farmer participants were interviewed on their practices from field preparation to post-harvest processes in Municipality of Quezon, Luna, Cabatuan, and Santiago, Isabela. The PHI-CSPM team also involves the DA-RCPC2, municipal agriculturists and six enumerators from Isabela to help in interviewing the rice farmers.Read more..

The monitoring team of BPI-Crop Pest Management Division together with the RCPC chief and technical staff of DA-Regional Crop Protection Center IV-B, and the Munipal Agriculture Offices conducted pest monitoring and validation on pest and diseasesof onion . PRIME
Pest Risk Identification and Management (PRIME) is a four-year project among the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), and the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) that aims to understand risk factors for pest outbreaks and identify appropriate management strategies and tactics to reduce crop losses. Five pests, which caused major crop losses in the Philippines, will be studied: blast (leaf and neck blast), bacterial leaf blight (BLB), rice tungro disease/ green leafhopper (GLH), brown planthopper (BPH) and rats.
